About Extension
Extension faculty and staff are skilled in creating and sustaining productive partnerships based on sharing and reciprocity, on mutual respect and symbiosis.
With its high-profile presence in Edmonton’s city centre, Extension is positioned as the centre of excellence for scholarship in the processes, contexts, and outcomes of learning and utilization of knowledge - particularly in relation to increasingly complex issues of community and societal concern.
These strategic goals reflect Extension's strengths in contributing to citizenship by:
- Forging new relationships and partnerships with a wide range of communities for the development of flexibly delivered, accessible programs for non-traditional learners;
- Developing innovative models of program design and delivery, research and evaluation, and capacity-building, especially for new professions, and
- Working collaboratively within evolving organizational and socio-cultural frames.
Research in areas of university-comunity engagement, regional development, governance, art, adult education, communications and technology.
