Biography

Prior to her position with the University, Professor Gander served for two years as Community Advisor to Student Legal Services of Edmonton. She was admitted to the Bar in 1972 and practiced law in Grande Prairie until 1973. She was Executive Director of the Legal Resource Centre, Faculty of Extension, University of Alberta from its inception in 1975. In 1994 she was appointed to the position of Director of the Legal Studies Program (the successor to the Legal Resource Centre), a position she held until the program was devolved out of the University in 2007. Professor Gander served as Associate Dean (Academic) for the Faculty of Extension from October 2002 - June 2004. She was appointed Queen’s Counsel in 2008.
