What are the computer requirements for eClass?
The computer requirements for eClass are quite steep and it the responsibility of the student to meet them all. You can see them all by viewing ‘Computer Requirements for Online Courses.’
How do I obtain a login ID and password?
If you are returning from the previous two semesters, your ID and password will remain the same. If you are returning from any other semester or if you are a new student, you will receive a new ID and password either via email or regular postal mail.
Where and how do I login to my eClass?
Go to vista.srv.ualberta.ca. Click on the "University of Alberta" link (third link down). On the next page, click on the "Log In" button. On the next screen, enter your ID number in the "User Name" box, and your password in the "Password" box. Then click the "OK" button directly underneath. This should take you into eClass.

How can I tell if my computer is eClass-ready?
All courses have a "Do Me First!" module that tests your computer for eClass readiness. These exercises also teach new students how to use basic eClass tools. We urge all students to go through this module as soon as possible so that technical issues can be addressed immediately.

Are JavaScript and Java the same thing?
No, they are completely different technologies and eClass requires them both. JavaScript is built into web browsers - no download is necessary. You may need to install Java (free of charge) as it is normally not pre-installed on Windows.
How do I make my first discussion posting in eClass?

How do I upload an assignment file in eClass?

When logging in to eClass, I get security warnings. What should I do?
Simply click "Yes" as many times as necessary.
When I open new pages in eClass, I sometimes get security alerts about the page containing secure and non-secure items. What should I do?
Simply click "Yes" in the security alert.
How do I navigate in eClass?
Do not use your browser's "Back" button except in emergencies, as it is very slow in eClass. We recommend using either the tool bar icons across the top of the page, the breadcrumbs in the upper left of the page or the icons at the very upper left.
