Program requirements
6 core courses + 168 credit hours in elective courses

The Environmental Resource Management Certificate program involves the completion of a minimum of 312 hours of university level instruction in the theory, tools, techniques, and policies of sound environmental management. Instruction is provided through lectures, labs and self-study.

This includes six core courses of 24 credit hours each, which develop a sound foundation in environmental management.

Core courses

It is highly recommended that the core courses be taken in the following order:

  1. Environmental Geology
  2. Principles of Ecosystems
  3. Introduction to Soils and Soil Resources
  4. Applied Hydrology
  5. Environmental Project Management
  6. Environmental Law

Environmental Law can be taken anytime in your program.

Program completion and graduation

When registering for your final course, submit the application for graduation no later than February 1.

  • A cumulative grade point average of at least 2.0 is required to obtain the certificate (3.5 or higher earns a certificate with distinction).
  • Complete and return the Application for Graduation whether or not you plan on attending the annual graduation ceremony in June.
